Training Week

I'm very sorry to be so far behind in posting my adventures of the week, but I've been surprisingly busy.

This was my schedule this week

Monday: Training 7:30-6:30

Oh my goodness. The very first day of training. It was super long, and stressful and at the end of it all, made me very excited about the rest of the week. We did all the new hire stuff, went over a couple powerpoints, and after lunch, started getting acquainted with our new friends. I got to hang out with Mickey this week. I think the hardest part was adjusting to walking and moving like a boy. And, you know, learning how to convey complete thoughts without saying them out loud. At the end of the day, we played charades with our new friends, and, lucky me, the phrase I had to act out was "Big Bang Theory". How in the world do you act out "theory"??? Anyway, it was a challenge, but it got me excited about the rest of the week.

Tuesday: Training 8:30-5:30

Ok. So, Tuesday was my "I quit" day. I think all of us in my training group had one. For me, it was right after lunch, when we had to order a meal as our characters. I absolutely couldn't make my order clear, and for a second I felt myself tearing up, getting so frustrated with myself. But, after that I got over it, and I was ok.

Wednesday: Training 8:30-5:30 at Epcot

This was our very first day in one of the parks. My pal Mickey and I made our way over to Canada and met with young fans. It definitely made me excited for the rest of the week. Just, the entire day was so much fun.

Thursday: Training 8:30-5:30 at Epcot

Thursday, Mickey was a little tired, so I hung out with Donald in American Adventure. Donald was a whole lot more fun to hang out with than Mickey, I think.

Friday: Welcome to Entertainment 8:30-5:30

Friday was a lot more classroom learning and technical stuff, but we were lucky enough to get to watch Dream Along with Mickey at Magic Kingdom. All the performers knew we were in the audience, so they waved and made us feel good about being there and being a part of the Disney Entertainment family.

Saturday: Minnie at Chef Mickey's Contemporary Diner 2:15-11:15

Saturday was my last day of training, and it was specialized dining training. We had a crash course in rotations through restaurants, and how to handle specific situations we would face throughout the night. My main concern that night, though, was being friends with Minnie. I've trained with boys, and hung out with boys all week long, so I was a little concerned about hanging out with a girl again. All my concerns were completely unfounded, however, because Minnie is SO much fun. It's really fun to be sassy and girlie.

Sunday: Minnie at Pete's Silly Sideshow 7:00AM-4:45PM

Yesterday was my first day on my own. I got up early, got myself to Magic Kingdom, and got all checked in. I made my way to Pete's Silly Sideshow bright and early, and Minnie and I got ready for our first guests. Minnie is a very strong woman, because her Minnie Magnifique dress is extremely heavy. Beautiful, but very heavy. Minnie is a lucky lady to have a wardrobe as extensive as hers is.

Monday: Off! Yay!

The day off today has been wonderful. I have done, well, not a whole lot. And it has been lovely. I explored some parts of Magic Kingdom I hadn't seen before. I bought a t-shirt and a phone cover, and a cute Minnie Mouse ring.  I was lucky enough to get to see my Uncle Tom and Tanya for dinner while they're in town, and now, I'm back in my comfy bed, getting ready for my day tomorrow.

Tomorrow, my roommate, Lindsey, and my friend Jillian and I are going to EPCOT before I have to work at 2. Pictures to come, but for now, I'm going to bed.
